This fantastic song is not too hard to learn, it only has a few riffs. But you do need to alternately tune your guitar to: Low F:A:C:F:A:C.

This is called an 'Open F Tuning' because the notes F - A - C give us an F major chord triad.

In fact the Lowest 2 strings aren't played in the song, so you can just tune the highest 4 strings if you wish, but bear in mind, overstrums will probably sound bad if you do.

Jimmy Page uses a bottleneck slide for the Turnaround Riff and the Solos. The weird thing is that you need the slide on your little finger for the Turnaround Riffs, but on your 1st finger for the solos. The good news is that you don't need a slide to play the song. You can just use your normal fingers - especially for the solos. For the turnaround riffs we recommend you slide with a stronger finger - i.e. your 1st, 2nd or 3rd. Be careful though, if your string action is too high, it'll hurt. If that's your guitar - get a bottleneck slide. Bottleneck slides are very cheap and work great with high action guitars.

Main Riff 1 - Short, catchy and repetitive. Ideal for learning quickly.

Main Riff 2 - Exactly the same as Main Riff 1, except with 1 extra strum here.

Jimmy mainly uses Main Riff 1, but does occasionally alternate to Riff 2. They sound so similar, it doesn't really matter which you use - both work great even if you just want to use one of them through the whole song.

Turnaround Riff - Short, sounds great and is quite easy. Notice the bottleneck slide is on finger 4. This means you can start with the slide chords and then switch to these chords easily (because you can use your 1st and 3rd fingers for those).

As mentioned earlier, you don't need a bottleneck slide - but if you use a finger to slide instead, use a stronger finger (1st, 2nd or 3rd). Buy a bottleneck if you start shredding your fingers.

Solo Backing Riff - This is a short repeating riff played underneath the solos. We only show it play though once (just like it does in the song) because next we go straight into the first solo. The backing riff doesn't change at all however, so you're not missing anything. Just keep repeating this riff.

Solo 1 - Very easy for a Jimmy Page solo. You don't need to use a bottleneck slide on your first finger, you can just slide as normal - it still sounds cool!

Solo 2 - Similar to the first solo, but higher, longer and a little more intricate in places (nothing too bad). This is how to do it with a bottleneck slide. If you aren't wearing a slide, then you can use different fingers for some of the notes shown here.
